🎮 Are the cats real or fictional?

All 15 cats in Purrfocus are fictional illustrated cartoon characters. No real animals are depicted, harmed, or shown in distress. The "lives" system works like health points in video games — it's playful gamification to motivate focus, similar to how Forest app uses trees. The tone is always lighthearted and family-friendly (rated 4+).

🐱 How do I revive a cat that lost all its lives?

You can revive a cat by watching a short reward video. Go to the Cats tab, tap on the cat that needs reviving, and select the "Revive" option. Your cat will be restored with full lives!

⏱️ Can I customize the timer duration?

Yes! Before starting a focus session, you can adjust the timer duration. We support classic 25-minute Pomodoro sessions as well as custom durations to match your workflow.

📋 What are Cat Boxes?

Cat Boxes are like folders for your tasks. You can create boxes for different projects, categories, or areas of life. Pin your most important boxes to keep them at the top of the list.

😿 What happens if I abandon a focus session?

If you abandon a session (close the app or cancel the timer), your selected cat will lose one life. Each cat has 9 lives total — just like health points in a video game! This gamification mechanic is designed to help you build better focus habits. Remember: all cats are fictional cartoon characters, and any cat can always be revived.

💕 How do bonds work?

Every time you complete a focus session, you earn a bond with your cat companion. Bonds represent your relationship with each cat and track your focus history in different life categories.

🌙 Does the app support Dark Mode?

Yes! Purrfocus fully supports Dark Mode. You can set it to match your system settings or choose your preferred theme in the Settings tab.

📱 Does the timer work in the background?

Yes, the timer continues running when you switch to other apps or lock your screen. You'll receive a notification when your session is complete.

🔄 Is my data synced across devices?

Currently, your data is stored locally on your device. Cloud sync functionality may be added in future updates.

🗑️ How do I delete my data?

You can delete all app data by going to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Purrfocus > Delete App. Alternatively, you can delete individual tasks and boxes within the app.

📵 How do I turn off ads?

Ads help keep Purrfocus free. However, we only show non-intrusive ads and reward videos are completely optional (used to revive cats). There's currently no ad-free purchase option.

Troubleshooting

The app is crashing or not loading

Try these steps: (1) Force quit and reopen the app, (2) Restart your device, (3) Check for app updates in the App Store, (4) If the issue persists, try reinstalling the app (note: this will delete local data).

Timer notifications aren't working

Make sure notifications are enabled for Purrfocus in Settings > Notifications > Purrfocus. Also check that Do Not Disturb or Focus modes aren't blocking notifications.

My cats or tasks disappeared

Data is stored locally on your device. If you deleted and reinstalled the app, or cleared app data, your progress would be lost. Unfortunately, without cloud backup, this data cannot be recovered.
